Why the total will not move
The price you are quoted is produced by the same code that takes the payment.
The quote is the charge
Checkout does not estimate a total and correct it at the pay button. It runs the pricing pass that places the order. An automated test fails the build if the two can produce different numbers.
The fee arrives before the menu
Delivery is priced against the address you typed, per restaurant, on the search results — with the minimum order beside it. Not a flat number on a card that changes later.
We do not dress up what we do not know
A restaurant nobody has reviewed says “no reviews yet” rather than showing an empty five stars. A courier position we cannot vouch for is withheld, not drawn as a pin that has stopped moving.
A note on the photographs
Every picture here is Angie Eats’s own.
They came from the legacy platform’s own upload directory — food photographed for Angie Eats restaurants. Not stock, not downloaded, not generated.
They stand in for merchant uploads. A restaurant supplies its own through the menu screen, which already accepts uploads, and its card shows whatever it supplied. The venues on this page are seed rows with invented names, so a stand-in photograph on one misrepresents nobody — and the same mapping must never be pointed at a real trading venue.
What the library cannot cover.
Eight of the twenty cuisines have no matching photograph — there is no Mexican, no Vietnamese and no breakfast in it. Those tiles show the category set on the house ember instead, and that is deliberate: a taqueria showing noodles would contradict the strongest claim on this page.
It is also the honest picture of go-live. A restaurant that has not uploaded anything yet looks exactly like that, which is the common case rather than the edge case — so it is drawn as a finished state rather than as a gap.
Two assets are permanently excluded: one watermarked stock photograph somebody uploaded without licensing it, and one carrying another restaurant’s branding. The rest of the library has not been audited for either.
